Poetry Today : A collection of 25 poems with five parts—‘Are You Looking For That Poet?’ , ‘The Poet As A Young Man’, ‘Making A Poem’, ‘A Poem Comes Alive’ and ‘A Poet’ explores the process of ‘creation’ and ‘criticism’ correlating them in order to emit out an aesthetic appeal and finally engages the reader more with the head than heart as seeing the signboard .
In ‘Are You Looking For That Poet?’ he enters the poetic world and finds ‘A Young Man’ who is ‘Making a Poem’ and trying to make it alive and at last ‘A Poem Comes Alive’ that appeals him so much that he feels a heart of ‘A Poet’ in him. The very interesting thing about the book is the jacket where the poet is himself in the role of Panditji at the age of three and it verifies the very truth of the poem - ‘A Play’ where the poet’s objectivity is reflected. Vihang who played the role of Panditji as a child of three is now playing his role of a poet on the Indian poetic stage winning appreciation from the critics. The world is only a stage where one has to play his part whether it is of a “Poet, philosopher / or a fool”. The role does not make much difference. But it must be played with the playing spirit...
A poem is within a poem as one can see the ocean but there may be the sand. A poet is an idealist who presents what he thinks and feels. It is not the job of the poet to give the photographic presentation but to add something that remains unseen by the common man. It is the “odhani’ of the beloved that stuck to the pen of the poet who creates “ a life within a poem”. An ocean of thoughts can be seen in the lines: “The night lamp burns / At the corner of the desk / life is a philosophy/.” ...
